These pages are designed to help current students plan for Registration Advisement.
- Primary Training
- Complete 4 consecutive semesters (2 years) in the same studio.
- Receive a grade C or above for semester to count towards Professional Training.
- A passing grade below a C will count as Elective Credit.
- Additional Professional Training

- Additional Professional Training include Advanced Studios, Internships, some Study Abroad options, and advanced components of Primary Studios.
- > 8 points maximum per semester
- A passing grade below a C will count as Elective Credit.
- Theatre Studies
- Includes 4 points of ITS and 4 points of ITP*
- Must also take 20 points (5 courses) of Advanced Theatre Studies (B/C). At least 8 of those points (2 courses) must be Group C.
- Group C courses examine material before WWII and/or non-Western theater traditions. See course listings in Theatre Studies Link for details.
- A passing grade below a C will count as Elective Credit.

- General Education (Liberal Arts)

- After Expository Writing/Core Curriculum, you need 2 courses in Humanities, 2 courses in Sciences, and 2 more courses in Humanities and/or Sciences (Balance of Liberal Arts).*
- General Education courses, a.k.a Liberal Arts, can only be taken through the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and Tisch.
- DO NOT take courses at The School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
- Theatre and Drama classes, even those offered through CAS, cannot count towards General Education.
- Electives

- Any course taken at CAS beyond the General Education requirement
- Professional Training taken beyond the Additional Professional Training requirement
- Any course taken at Steinhardt, Gallatin, or Stern.
